That's a part swap, not a five-minute fix, and it's the kind of thing that turns a cable call into a drum-and-cable call once we're actually looking at the hardware. Cold, damp winters in this climate band do extension springs no favors either - the coils and end hooks corrode from the inside where you can't see it, and a corroded hook is what actually shears the cable at the connection point, not wear on the cable itself.
